Why is it that most business owners never ask for help? So, when they have problems and issues in their business, they just bury their heads in the sand and never ask for help?
Perhaps its because we don’t want to be seen as a failure, that we are bad at running our business and that you’re struggling and don’t want to be a burden to others if you ask them for help.
As business owners we have one of the most stressful jobs to do, and we are 100% responsible for what happens, there’s no getting out of it. It’s a fact!
Perhaps you’ve recently started your business and it started out well, with help from friends and family buying your products or services, but now your customer flow is drying up and you have zero ideas on what to do.
Well, when we want to do anything new we go and get help don’t we? Whether its learning to drive, learning to swim, running a marathon we always go and find someone to help us achieve that goal. It’s the same in business sometimes you need to have someone who has been there and done it that can help you out with your marketing or just teaching you how to run your business properly.
However, when the sh*t hits the fan you need to be brave, you need to put your hand up and ask for help, because its mad to try and do it all on your own, you haven’t failed if you ask for help, there’s NO SHAME in asking for help. Quite often it’s actually the best thing you could do, than, get stuck in a situation where you can see no escape. Eventually leading to the situation just getting worse and worse.
Sometimes we all need a helping hand. To point us back in the right direction, be it financial, general advice or even looking at different ways to do things. No matter what problem you may find yourself and your business in. There is always help, all you have to do is stop sticking your head in the sand and put up your hand and ask for it.
I’m sure you have come across the phrase of 2 heads are better than one, its true because sometimes you do need someone to say “try, this that or the other” or to give you some financial assistance.
Sometimes, you need to be brave, don’t struggle, don’t get down, don’t bury your head in the sand and hope it goes away, because its not going to. So, put your big boy (or girl) pants on, take a breath, put your hand up and say; “Can you help me please, this is the situation I’m in, and I don’t know what to do”.
9 times out of 10, someone you ask will help you, yes it might be embarrassing, you may not want to do it, but, this could be the best decision you make. If anything, it will grow your reputation in a more positive light, because you have had the sense to ask for the help when you need it. Rather than the person who let everything fall down around themselves making the situation even worse.
So, if you are struggling, have a think, think who may be able to help you out, it could be family, a close friend, business coach, financial adviser, there’s probably quite a list, but there’s always someone there to help us when we need it.
